September 09 Seahawks: 2006 OpenerThe boys are once again back at it again. Tomorrow, my team in blue & green will run onto the field, albeit Ford Field in Detroit, and do what they do best; give us all hope for an appearance in the Superbowl. I wondered if my view on the upcoming football season would change having had the Seattle Seahawks go to the Superbowl last year (stupid officiating...OK, I am over it), but nothing has changed. I still get that tingling feeling deep in my stomach, like a kid at Christmas, I still look & relook at the schedule, I purchased my set of tickets, joined my fantasy football league and still carry with me the deep appreciation for the game of football that I have had for so many years. I still recall doing my homework in front of the TV in my younger years watching any football game that was on. I haven't pin-pointed what it is exactly about this profusion of tackles, receptions, shouts, pains, determination I see each week on the field that still gets me at the core. Maybe it is adrenalin, perhaps intrigue, but in the end, it is just darn good fun! To my Seahawks: May the runs be long and the hands be sure and most of all, the scoreboard be in our favor; good luck & thanks for the tingles! -12th Man (er womMAN)
August 29 Fantasy Football - let the games beginSo I am in a fantasy football league with folks at work and a few others I don't know. We are using ESPN's fantasy football application. Despite it being Java based, it is pretty slick. I can easily see who my starters are, who the free agents are I can trade for, who others teams have selected, etc. I do have a few gripes:
1. Java-based (hey, gotta state the obvious) 2. I would like to be able to view any player and have it tell me which team has this person on their roster 3. I would like to be able to do column sorting (sort all players alpha, just my players, etc) 4. During the draft, I would have liked a column that showed the available players current team versus their team name being listed as an extension of their name Anywho, we will see how I do this season. My QB, while having a great game last night (3 TDs) has a history of knee issues. I will update you throughout the season on how my team is doing. Let the games begin... |
